What is a good clear matt finish for plastic models ?
I have painted some plastic model trains and now it is time to get rid of that glossy look.( I used automotive spray paint) Normally, I would use Testors Dullcote but it has not been available here for many months now and nobody knows when we will see it again. I live in Cairns Australia.
There are two products at the art shop which look hopeful :
1. Jo Sonja matt varnish is a water based liquid which I will have to put through an airbrush. It does say NOT to use over oil based products.
2.Crystal Kote matt spray. From the directions on the spray tin, this can be used over almost anything.
Has anybody used either of these products to paint plastic models such as planes, boats or cars ? What was the result ?
No, we do not have Testors Dullcote in the bottle for airbrushing. I have never seen it in the bottle in this country.
Gee, sorry to hear Australia is having a TESTORS shortage !! Have you checked around to see if they have it in the bottle for airbrushing ??
I've used Crystal Kote matte finish before on models and trains and have never had a problem putting it over Testors or Pollyscale enamels.
